What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a weightless, semi-permanent enhancement. Each extension is shaped like a single eyelash. The extensions are available in a variety of widths, lengths, curls and colors.

There are two types of extensions: Classic and Volume. With Classic Lashes, each individual fiber is adhered to a single, natural lash using a hypoallergenic, medical-grade adhesive. With Volume Lashes, multiple lashes are adhered to a single lash and are ideal for those with sparse lashes. Thanks to the innovation of attaching extensions to a single lash, both Classic and Volume Lashes are so soft and natural you can comb through them. This technique also allows each natural lash to grow on its own cycle, without pain, pulling or pinching.

The Beauty Collective offers a variety of extensions types, and our experienced estheticians are happy to design a formula especially for you.

At The Beauty Collective, we offer three premium varieties of extensions:

Human Hair: Eyelash extensions made of human hair are first cleansed and sanitized, then shaped to mimic eyelashes. These are just about the most realistic you can get. With a light, feathery style, human hair lash extensions have the most natural look and feel, lasting longer than other extensions due to their light, porous texture. Ideal for clients who have naturally thin weak lashes. Human hair lash extensions are perfect for those who have gone through chemotherapy and are going through the grow out phase.

Authentic Siberian Mink: Made of 100% Siberian mink, these cruelty-free eyelash extensions are gently combed off live minks. Fine, soft, lightweight and flexible, mink lash extensions offer a feathery look with porous texture that adheres better to the natural lash than synthetic lash extensions. Ideal for those seeking a more natural look because mink lash extensions do not come curled. Please note: in the rare case you’re allergic to animal hair then mink would not be a good option for you.

Faux Mink: Faux mink eyelash extensions are the most popular lash extensions used at The Beauty Collective. Much like their real fur counterparts, these synthetic lash extensions are also light, soft and extremely natural looking. Even though they have slightly more volume than real mink lash extensions the difference is not noticable. Faux mink lash extensions are 100% hypoallergenic. Also ideal for those seeking a bolder look. Faux mink lash extensions never lose their curl.

What are the benefits of wearing eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions lengthen your natural lashes and create fullness. A number of women with naturally light-colored lashes also choose extensions to darken their existing lashes. Lash extensions create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Another advantage of lash extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. With lash extensions, mascara is no longer necessary. The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day.

What is the procedure like?

It is painless, gentle and relaxing. Many of our clients enjoy soft conversation or drift off to sleep. Whether it is your first visit or time for a lash fill, the procedure will always be the same, with each appointment taking between 45 to 90 minutes. You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while a single, synthetic lash is applied to each natural lash using medical-grade adhesive.

How long do lash extensions last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with regular lash fills. When properly applied, eyelash extensions will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out or the adhesive bond weakens. Natural lashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). Do not be alarmed — this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. It is normal to see a natural lash with its root attached to a lash extension when sheds. This does not mean you are losing your lashes prematurely or that the extensions are causing damage. Lash fills are necessary every two to five weeks in order to maintain your beautiful look.

Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No. In fact, lash extensions are kinder to your natural lashes because you don’t need to curl them or apply mascara, which can dry out or even break your eyelashes. Lash extensions look and feel completely real.

How do I care for my lash extensions?

You will not need to adjust your normal routine and lifestyle — if anything extensions will make your life easier! For the first three hours, avoid using water, creams, sunscreen and oils around the eye area, as well as avoid swimming, sauna or spa treatments. Never pull or rub your lashes. Use a non-oily, water-based eye makeup remover formulated for lash extensions. Do not use an eyelash curler on your extensions, this will damage the extensions. (Besides, you don’t need one!) Most importantly, keep your lash extensions clean so that dead skin cells, dirt, makeup and oil do not build up on your lash line.

Can I wear mascara?

One of the main advantages of eyelash extensions is that you really don’t need to wear mascara. However, if you prefer, a water-based mascara that is formulated for synthetic lashes may be used. (The Beauty Collective carries all formulated products for your extensions.) If you choose to wear mascara, only apply mascara to the tips of your lash extensions.

I’m currently wearing another salon’s lashes, may I schedule a fill-in with you?

Absolutely! But everyone's style and technique is different. At The Beauty Collective, we have high expectations. We demonstrate an exceptional level of execution in our applications and use premium products to achieve beautiful results. We love doing your lashes as much as you love your lashes. We strive to give you the best results for your dollar, and if you have been the unfortunate recipient of an eyelash-extension disaster, we would love to help. Please see our Lash Menu for fill prices if you are coming from another technician. All of our weekly fill pricing is based on average retention. If you expereince excessive fallout/lash shedding we will have to charge accordling, possibly up to a full set. Also, sometimes it is necessary to remove the current application, which would result in an additional removal fee. Please view our Menu page for all pricing.
