What Is A Lash Lift And How Is It Performed?

If you're looking for luscious, beautiful eyelashes this year, look no further than the lash lift. Here's what you should know about this semi-permanent treatment and why you can now ditch your eyelash curler for good!

What is a lash lift?

Lash lifts are a simple, painless way to curl and lift your upper lashes. The treatment lasts longer than if you curl your lashes at home, and it doesn't require any special maintenance.

Don't worry, your lashes won't look over-curled, either – lash lifts are all about the natural look.

What happens during a lash lift?

First, the technician binds a silicone mold onto your eyelid with non-toxic glue. This shouldn't cause you any pain or discomfort.

Then, the technician gently attaches your eyelids to the glue on this shield and separates them so each eyelash gets its own beautiful curl.

A chemical "perm" solution is then applied to the eyelash roots for between 7 and 10 minutes. Once the solution softens the eyelashes, the technician wipes it off and sets the lashes with a neutralizing solution.

How much does a lash lift cost?

The cost of a lash lift varies across salons, but the treatments typically start at around $70. It's more expensive if you add in other treatments such as a lash tint.

How long does it last?

The average lash lift lasts between 6 and 8 weeks. This is how long it takes for new lashes to grow in. Some lucky people report lash lifts lasting up to 10 weeks, depending on how long it takes their lashes to regrow.

To get the most from your lash lift, don't sleep on your lashes too roughly, and don't get them wet for 24 hours after the procedure.

Are there any risks?

Lash lifts are typically safe, and most people don't report any problems. However, there's a small chance you could develop an allergic reaction to the chemical solution used, which could cause eye irritation. Lash lifts may not be for you if you:

  • Have dry eyes

  • Have sensitive or easily irritated eyes

  • Are currently taking eye medication

Generally, though, lash lifts are fine for everyone. Up your eyelash game this year and consider a lash lift today!
